Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day grew out of Professor Ryuta Kawashima, MD's, scientific research. Dr. Kawashima specializes in neurology (the study of the brain and nervous system) and is Distinguished Professor in the Dept. of Nuclear Medicine and Radiology at Tohoku University's Institute of Development, Aging and Cancer, Sendai, Japan.
Dr. Kawashima demonstrated, using brain imaging techniques, that exercising the brain improves its function. Based on his findings, he authored Train Your Brain: 60 Days to a Better Brain.
Nintendo turned Dr. Kawashima's best-selling book into Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day. Brain Age products are stand-alone applications that run on the Nintendo DS (handset).
